Hydrogen Peroxide and Baking Soda
As soon as possible you need to blot up any excess red wine out of the spill using a clean cloth. Once the area is mostly dry, spray some hydrogen peroxide on the stain and sprinkle with some baking soda. Leave to sit for about 2-3 minutes and then wipe with a clean dry cloth. Rinse the area with water and repeat if necessary.
White Wine for Red Wine Stains?
Believe it or not you can actually use white wine to help neutralize red wine and make it easier to lift out of your carpets. Simply pour some white wine over the red wine stain and blot the area to remove the liquid. Do NOT rub the area as this will force the stain deeper into the carpet and make it much harder to remove.
Club Soda and Wine Stains
Pouring club soda over a stain can help lift the red wine stain out of your carpets. The salt in the drink also helps prevent the stain from setting.
Vinegar and Soap or Soda
Vinegar is great at neutralizing the purple pigment of wine and can be combined with soda to lift the stain out of the carpet.
Salt for Wine Stains
By pouring a little salt over the wine stain you can help prevent the stain from setting into your carpets while you find other products to help you lift the stain out of your carpets.
